AI Use Disclosure

A site about honest measurement should be honest about its own production. Media Scientist uses AI, and this page describes exactly where.

What the AI assistant does

  • Monitors industry news - it watches feeds and announcements across digital marketing, analytics, and search, and flags stories worth attention.
  • Researches - for a flagged story, it gathers sources, cross-references claims, and assembles a background brief with citations.
  • Drafts - from that research it may prepare a draft post for my review.

What the AI assistant does not do

  • It does not publish. Every post on this site requires my explicit review and sign-off before it goes live - the publishing system enforces this, not just policy.
  • It does not have opinions on my behalf. The analysis, positions, and conclusions on this site are mine. Where a draft survives to publication, it is because I have verified the facts and agree with - or have rewritten - the argument.
  • It does not fabricate. Drafts must cite real, checkable sources. Anything that cannot be verified is cut before publication.

Why work this way

Monitoring an industry in real time is exactly the kind of high-volume, low-judgement work machines are good at. Deciding what it means is not. Using AI for the first and keeping humans on the second is, I would argue, the correct experimental design - and this site tries to practise what it preaches.
