Media Scientist (mediascientist.co.uk) is a personal publication. This policy explains what data is processed when you read it.

What is collected

No accounts, no forms, no tracking you did not agree to. Data processing is limited to:

• Analytics - Google Analytics 4, and only if you consent via the cookie banner. It collects pseudonymous usage data: pages read, approximate location (country/city), device type, and how you found the site.
• Server logs - the hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard technical request data (IP address, user agent) to serve and secure the site.

Cookies and consent

Analytics is off by default and only runs if you opt in - a deliberate choice on a site about measurement: consented data you can trust beats un-consented data you cannot. Strictly necessary functionality (your consent choice, your theme preference) does not require consent. You can change your choice at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.

How data is used

Aggregated analytics tells me what gets read. That is the entire use. No data is sold, no individual profiles are built, and there is no advertising on this site.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data, and object to processing. This site holds no directly identifying data about readers; for the third-party processors above (Google, Cloudflare), their own privacy controls apply.

If data practices change, this page changes with them, with the date updated at the top.
